To measure temperature, humidity and power consumption, as well as for presence detection, Systec Designs has developed (mainly battery-powered) sensors that pass through their data by an encrypted wireless connection in the 868 MHz band. There is increasing demand to centrally register access to these data, for instance on a central server.
To enable this Systec has designed an ‘868 to GPRS bridge’. This unit sends data from the different sensors via the mobile telephone network to a server which is specified by the customer.
In this way no extra wires have to be installed and the (company) network is bypassed, thereby preventing network-management problems (firewalls, IP conflicts).
